Let's keep this in mind, people are troubled not by things, but by their view of things. We all possess an innate human potential for deciding our emotions, and this is a product of our ability to think about our thinking.
The potential for thinking about our thinking is frequently left untouched in most people; leaving emotional intelligence unaltered throughout life, and we believe, that our emotions are fixed and the product of how events unfold or how we are treated by other people, and therefore we see this process as something outside our control, instead of taking responsibility for our own emotions, most of the time we choose to whine and complain about how other people should change in order for us to be content in our own lives.
People don’t just get upset. They contribute to their own upsetness. They always have the power to think differently.
Emotion is a product of thinking and perception. We have to think and perceive in order to feel emotion. If we want to change the way we feel, we have to change the way we think.”
How might you be contributing to your own unhappiness?
When do you think about your thinking, & what does that look like?
